Del Jean Dedeker, DDS
Dr. Del Jean Dedeker was born in Los Angeles where her parents were in medical and physical therapy school. She grew up in Wayzata, Minnesota with her two brothers. She enjoyed a childhood around horses and working toward the pursuit of mastering the piano which she devoted much of her time to in high school. She attended Union College in Lincoln Nebraska and after three years was accepted to Loma Linda School of Dentistry where, after her first two years, she was given the honor of the Highest Achievement in Science and was the first female student at Loma Linda to receive the prestigious award. She then transferred to the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry to be closer to her husband who was in a medical residency in Minneapolis. Dr. Dedeker graduated there in 1986.
After practicing dentistry in Red Bluff, California for 7 years she and her husband moved to Wasilla in 1993. She joined Aurora Dental in 2005 and acquired ownership of the practice in 2010. She and her husband have 6 children—3 boys and 3 girls.
Dr. Dedeker is highly proficient in nearly all disciplines of general dentistry including crown and bridge work, veneers, total mouth reconstruction, endodontics (root canals), removable restorations (partials and full dentures). Tooth-colored fillings are a trademark of the practice as she does not place amalgam (metallic) restorations. She is certified in Invisalign® clear braces and greatly enjoys providing that style of orthodontics. She treats lots of children right along with their parents and many times their grandparents.
Her biggest challenge, and one she finds exceptionally satisfying, is emergency dentistry. A big part of Del Jean's caregiving involves replacing missing teeth with implants. After 30 years of dentistry, she is still deeply moved by the immensely positive reaction patients have after receiving major restorations such as implants or full dentures. Helping people to smile again is her greatest reward.
